Treatment of roads in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown - 21/12/10 @ 19.35

Extremely heavy snowfall yesterday and today has caused disruption across parts of the County road network. Council crews have been out treating roads throughout the day, using snowploughs and JCBs to clear key transport routes, and they are out treating roads again this evening.
We received additional salt supplies last night and have trucks on standby ready to collect salt from Dublin port Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.
Met Éireann has forecasted freezing temperatures and further heavy snow showers over Leinster this evening. In light of the ongoing poor weather conditions, residents should avoid making any unnecessary journeys by car, and avail of public transport where and when possible (visit www.transport.ie for details and links to service providers).
