Burst Watermain - Rathfarnham Area - Update 11.25 am

Water has been restored now to all households - 16.40 pm. 

If you are experiencing dirty water please run for a minute, if water doesn't clear turn tap off and repeat at a later stage.

Update @ 3.30 pm

The burst watermain has now been fixed and the water has been turned back on. 

However, please note it may take several hours for the water to reach all households.

Please be advised that the water supply will be disrupted to the Ballybrack area, namely Glenavon Park and surrounding areas due to a burst watermain in the area.

Water Disruption - Windsor Terrace\Newtownsmith, Dun Laoghaire - 7th December 2011

Update - Wednesday 7th at 4.30 pm
As Council crews continue to work to repair the burst watermain, please be advised that there is now severe traffic disruption in the area. We advise motorists to avoid the area if at all possible.


Our Area Engineer has advised that the watermain will be fully repaired, water restored and road re-opened by approx 5.30 pm this evening.



Due to a major water burst on Newtownsmith, water has been turned off in the area.

The Water Crew are currently repairing this main. Although an exact time cannot be given at this stage when water will be restored, it is hoped to have water back by this evening.

Queens Road\Windsor Terrace and Newtownsmith road will be closed to traffic in order to facilitate repair. Traffic diversions are in place - traffic will be diverted through Link Road, Glasthule and Marine Road Dun Laoghaire.

Due to a burst watermain the Knocknacree Park area of Dalkey is still without water today.

The burst has been successfully coned off and a crew are currently working on repairing the pipe and water will hopefully be restored late this afternoon.

Water off - Knock-na-cree, Dalkey Wed 23rd November 2011 @ updated 16.00

Households in Knock-na-cree will be without water this evening due to a burst main.

Unfortunately, due to a number of parked cars over the damaged pipe this could not be repaired today.

Arrangements are in place to cone\barrier this area once the cars are moved, in order that this can be repaired first thing tomorrow morning - Thurs 24th.

To facilitate households, a tap has been installed on the water hydrant at the junction of Knock-na-cree Park and Cunningham Road outside Ardbrugh Lodge. This will remain in operation until 23.00 hrs this evening. This water is for general purposes and should be boiled for drinking.

We are pleased to advise that access to the Emergency number 6778844 has now been fully restored. Please note that we are dealing with a large volume of reported incidents across the county and even though all available resources have been deployed to alleviate the most badly affected areas, it is likely that it will be some time before the situation returns to normal..

Update at 3:30pm - WATER NOW RESTORED.

Due to a burst watermain on Hyde Road, households on Hyde Road and surrounding areas including Dundela Estate and Castlepark Road may experience an interruption to their water supply or a reduction in pressure. Due to a burst watermain in the area, Sandyford Industrial Estate and some surrounding areas are experiencing an interruption to their water supply. The County Council has restored supply to many areas but there are still some areas without water. Water Services staff will continue to work late into the evening to carry out repairs. However, there is a possibility that supply may not be restored until mid-morning tomorrow (Tuesday). The County Council apologises for the inconvenience caused and will continue to attempt to restore supply.

There will be an emergency road closure today THURSDAY 26th MAY 2011 from 11.00 am for a period of approximately 3 days on Killiney Hill Road from the junction of the roundabout at Victoria Road to Strathmore Road to facilitate emergency drainage works.

Access will be provided to local residents with traffic diversion signs in place.

The Water Services Team are currently on site and working on restoring the water supply.  It is hoped to have water restored as soon as possible today.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Water Update 14th January 2011 - updated 14.55 hrs

Following the continuing improvement in the drinking water storage levels in the Region’s no planned shutdowns will take place over this weekend (Friday night to Sunday night inclusive). Pressure reductions will continue across the County over the weekend but with a reduction in severity. These areas are listed below. This position will be reviewed by our Water Services team on Monday.

Householders and customers should note that it is possible that shut-offs may be necessary in response to leaks and bursts that arise over the weekend. Should this be necessary the Council’s blog  and Aertel page 630 will be updated.

Weekend works in Blackrock, scheduled under The Dublin Region Watermains Rehabilitation Project,  are not covered by this notice and householders and customers affected by these (rehabilitation) works should refer to the  separate notifications delivered to them.
