Due to the predicted severe weather over the weekend there will be some disruption for the public, however all agencies are working together both nationally and locally to ensure that such disruption is minimised. In order to achieve this, the severe weather national co-ordination group has been meeting to deal with national issues and local emergency response groups have also been meeting in local areas to manage local situations.
Residents are encouraged to follow the link to the Roads Safey Authority website at http://www.rsa.ie/ for driver tips and http://www.meteireann.ie/ for regular weather updates.
We are also advising residents to assist with the following:
- To check on elderly neighbours and relatives
- To clear snow from the front of homes and business with shovels and brushes rather than spreading salt after snowfall and before it freezes into compact ice - salt can damage concrete
- To avoid all unnecessary journeys by car
- To slow down driving to suit road conditions and to prevent accidents.
