Weather Update

The rain warning issued by Met Eireann on Wednesday 25th April for DĂșn Laoghaire Rathdown has now expired. The event has passed without any significant flooding. Any further Met Eireann weather warning that may issue will be assessed and acted upon as necessary.

17.35: Weather Update

Met Eireann has issued an updated Weather Warning as follows:


Further heavy rain this evening and at times tonight and tomorrow morning too, with possibly some thundery bursts at times. A further 25mm of rain is likely on top of what has fallen, but in the Dublin / Wicklow foothills and mountains a further 40 mm is possible.

Strong and gusty northeast winds, will gust 45 to 50 knots / 80 to 90 km/h on exposed coasts and hills - valid from Wed 25th 16:00 To Thurs 26th 10:00.

Further to our Crews being deployed across the county today checking and cleaning potential 'hot spots', we are pleased to advise residents that our Drainage Crews will on duty until 20.00 this evening to again check all river screens and to respond to any flooding incidents as necessary. The situation will be monitored thereafter with reference to Met Eireann and local information.

Flood Alert 24th April 2012

Met Eireann has issued a Rain Warning indicating that 25 to 30 mm of rain is expected to fall in the period 6:00am Wednesday 25th to 6:00 am Thursday 26th April.

In preparation for this we would like to advise residents that our Gully Crews have been out today and have checked all ‘hot spots’ across the county. All screens have been checked and cleaned as of 3.00pm this afternoon.

Our Gully Crews are on high alert and will check and clean the screens again this evening. The crews will be on duty at 6:30am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, when all screens will once more be checked and cleaned.

Additional resources from other sections will be drafted in tomorrow to assist if necessary.

Water Disruption Killiney - Tuesday 24th April 2012

Due to essential works on the water network the public water supply to all households and businesses shall be disrupted on Tuesday 24th April in the following areas:

Due to a contractor hitting a watermain, the water has been turned off to facilitate repairs in the following areas of Dalkey:

Water Disruption - Saval Park Road, Dalkey - 16th April 2012 @ 3pm

Due to a burst watermain the water has been turned off to all households in the Saval Park Road area of Dalkey in order to necessitate repair.

The crew are currently on site repairing the main and it is hoped to have the water restored as soon as possible.  Unfortunately, an exact time when water will be restored cannot be given at this stage.

The Council apologises for this disruption to the water supply.

Water Disruption Glasthule Thursday 12th April @ 2pm

Updated at 3.30pm - 12/04/12:  The burst has now been repaired and the water has been turned back on.

Due to a water burst some areas in Glasthule are currently without water.

The water crew are on site repairing this burst and it is hoped to have water restored as soon as possible. At this stage we cannot give an exact time when water will be restored.

 The Council apologises for this disruption to the water supply.

Monday April 9 @ 10:45am - Water off in Killiney/Dalkey Area

Households in the Killiney area and parts of Dalkey are currently without water, however we are actively working to resolve the problem. It is hoped that water supply will be restored by early evening.

Please use water from your attic tank sparingly until supply is fully restored.
