Treatment of roads in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown - 20/12/10 @ 17.40

Due to very heavy snowfall this afternoon, the Council's Transportation Department will be deploying snow ploughs and treating County roads this evening. UPDATE @ 21.00: Crews will also be carrying out an early morning treatment of County roads tomorrow, 21/12.

We are pleased to report that a delivery of salt is currently en route to Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown, which will help shore up supply within the County.

We're also calling on householders and businesses to help keep footpaths clear by sweeping snow from the front of their premises and driveways before the snow freezes.

The Council is closely monitoring weather conditions, with further snow showers, extremely cold temperatures and a widespread severe frost expected along the east coast.  Pedestrians and all road users are reminded to exercise due care at all times while travelling during this cold spell.
