Update on severe weather conditions Tuesday 30/11/2010 18.25p.m

Gritting crews will be out again tonight and tomorrow morning across the County. Residents are however advised not to make any unnecessary journeys by car tonight as snow showers and dropping temperatures have resulted in difficult road conditions, with considerable traffic congestion in some areas as people make their way home after work.

Update on severe weather Mon 29/11/2010 18.30p.m

Met Eireann have warned that there will be further snowfall tonight, with continuing risk of thunderstorms and in anticipation of this our gritting crews will be out in force. The cold snap is set to continue until the weekend and into next week. Public transport is working with minor restrictions and delays.We recommend that you should check http://www.transport.ie/ for information, which is linked to all public transport providers. Drivers need to exercise caution and be aware of ice conditions at all times.

Our crews were out earlier today on selected secondary routes as well as on major roads across the County. Hospitals, schools, Dart stations, Luas stations and senior citizens accommodation were also prioritised for treatment.

Citizens are reminded to conserve water supplies whenever possible and to contact burstmains@dlrcoco.ie with reports of any major water leaks. Issues in relation to gritting can be referred to roadmaintenance@dlrcoco.ie.

Water is being restored to Killiney - 29\11\10 @ 16:45

Water is being restored to all affected estates in Killiney which were without water earlier today.  It may take some hours for water to be restored to all households especially those in higher areas.  Your ongoing co-operation and patience is appreciated.

Due to a burst main in Sweetmount Avenue, Dundrum will be without water for the next hour or so. The crew are currently working on this repair and it is hoped to have the water restored at 16.00 hours.

Due to a burst water main in Killiney the following estates will be without water until approx 17.00:-

Update on severe weather conditions Sun 28/11/2010 18.45p.m

Our engineers have confirmed that the snow plough and gritting crews were out on major roads across the County early this morning and again this evening. Crews will be out again early tomorrow morning.

Residents are urged to remember not to run their taps in an attempt to prevent freezing pipes. Please conserve water supplies. Many thanks.

Update on severe weather conditions Sat 27/11/2010 18.40p.m

Met Eireann have advised that the spell of cold weather is forecast to continue until at least Thursday next and further snowfall showers are expected to affect the east coast of the country and to extend some distance inland. Tomorrow (Sunday), through to Monday is expected to have particularly severe conditions.

Our engineers are assessing the situation in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown on a continual basis throughout this weekend and we can confirm that our crews will be out salting/gritting and deploying snow ploughs as necessary.

There is a small risk of further thunderstorms, which caused some damage last night and freezing fog may also arise in areas not affected by snow, depending on local wind conditions.

We are advising citizens to only undertake journeys that are absolutely necessary, to check in on vulnerable and elderly neighbours and to keep informed via the transport website at http://www.transport.ie/

Due to essential works there will be disruption to water supply resulting in a reduction in service with reduced pressures and loss of supply in some areas on Sunday 21st November. The following areas will be affected:-

7/11/2010 Weather Warning Update

Residents of Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown are advised that southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 30m to 40 knots, gusts 50 to 60 knots between 6pm and midnight this evening.

A spell of heavy rain will move eastwards over Ireland this evening and early tonight  (20 - 35mm), starting in the west from approx 3.00pm this afternoon Sunday and clearing from the East coast by 3.00am Monday morning 8/11.

There will be further heavy showers on Monday 8/11, with a risk of thunderstorms. A further 20mm of rain is possible.

5/11/10 - Press Release - Weekend Weather Warning

The Council would like to advise residents of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown that the Press Release issued by Dublin City Council yesterday is in relation to tidal flooding due to predicted high tide levels at specified areas only.

Residents are also advised that the current highest predicted tide level does not and should not pose a threat in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown coastal region.

However residents should note that Met Eíreann has issued an early notice of potential severe weather across Ireland for Sunday night/Monday, which may impact inland. We will be monitoring the situation throughout the weekend and action will be taken as necessary in areas that have been affected.

An update on the situation will be notified to residents through this Blog on Sunday 7/11 at 5.00p.m
