12 noon 18/01/10 - Water Supply Update

Water is being restored to those areas of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County which were without water overnight with the exception of some areas in Killiney / Ballinclea (see notice below). However, it will take some hours for supply to be restored to all affected areas and in some cases even longer.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council contains a high proportion of older housing stock with associated older plumbing systems. Householders living in these older houses are likely to experience delays in the restoration of full water supply and in particular the re-filling of storage tanks.

Other problems, such as air-locking of pipes, can result in a lack of water in bathroom and toilet fittings. For further information on how to solve an air locking problem please refer to Advice on getting rid of Airlocks

Killiney / Ballinclea Update

Following intensive leakage detection investigations, leaks have now been identified in the following areas: Oakdene, Wyvern, Old Quarry.

Water will remain off in these areas until such time as the leaks have been repaired.

Water tankers will be in place today, Monday 18 January, in Cuala, Hyde Park Road, Dalkey from 9.00a.m - 7.00 p.m and in Cluny School, Avondale Road, Killiney from 10.00 a.m - 4.00 p.m, to provide water supplies as necessary.
